Total Protection
HYGIENE AND STERILITY PROTOCOLS FOR HEALTH PROTECTION OF OUR PATIENTS
For total protection of our patients' health, all surgery and dental instruments used are sterilised at the end of each session, in accordance with international guidelines and strict protocols.
The first phase of operations includes the decontamination of coarse residues (macroscopic biological residues, deposits of dental materials such as cements, resins, etc) by hand washing all instruments or by using special equipment (dedicated instrument-washers). These procedures allows us to always keep our instruments clean and ready to undergo the most important operation of the entire cycle: sterilisation with the steam autoclave. The instruments are carefully dried, put inside special bags and placed in the chamber of the autoclave - a pressurized device that uses high temperature steam to completely kill all bacteria and micro-organisms. We also carry out three specific tests to check whether or not the sterilisation procedures were successful. |
Bowie Dick Test A visual indicator test sheet is used to verify the correct functioning of the autoclave (the indicator changes from blue to black). |
Helix test Like the previous one, it is a visual indicator test that assesses the ability of the system to reduce air residuals within the sterilisation chamber to an accepted level. |
Bacteriological vials Every week a number of vials are placed in an incubator for 24 hours and compared with each other. This cross check allows us to verify even further the effects of sterilisation. |
Furthermore, we systematically sterilise all turbines, ultrasound handles and milling cutters used on patients. To prove this to you, all sterile bags containing the instruments to be used are opened in front of you.
Please arrange an appointment to visit our sterilisation department. We would be happy to show you how we take care of our patients.
