WHO IT'S RECOMMENDED FOR
It is definitely a method which, owing to its "invisibility", appeals to adults who are almost always wary of traditional braces.
People with perfectly straight teeth are few and far between. Invisalign® is a comfortable system without wires or metal attachments, and, since it is a removable brace, the patient can eat and brush his or her teeth without problems, since the aligner is removed for these operations. The added bonus is being able to smile freely without being embarrassed.
WHAT ARE AND HOW DO INVISALIGN ALIGNERS WORK?
The aligners are made of transparent resin which is 3 tenths of a millimetre thick, so they are absolutely "lightweight".
A customised set of aligners is produced to fit every patient. It is numbered and coded for each patient, using brand new computerised three-dimensional technology.
The orthodontist authorises the production of this set of aligners after planning the patient's treatment schedule and after ensuring the dental movements simulated by the computer correspond to those prescribed. The aligners, each of which is to be worn by the patient for a fortnight, will carry out slight, painless sequential movements.
A bland sensitiveness each time the aligner is changed may last a few hours (thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the movement) but there is no need to resort to painkillers, while any alterations in pronunciation will disappear in a couple of days, giving the tongue time to adapt. |

WHICH CASES CAN BE TREATED WITH THE INVISALIGN TECHNIQUE?
Firstly, let us reiterate that the first indispensable step for the success of an orthodontic treatment, even and most of all using Invisalign®, is to perform a diagnosis and the related treatment plan correctly. I would say that the majority of occlusal disorders and overcrowding can be treated, with the exception of such serious ones that require surgery.
HOW LONG DOES THE INVISALIGN TREATMENT LAST?
From a few months to 2 or 3 years, as it varies from case to case and according to the movements to be accomplished. The aligners are replaced every fortnight.
THE COSTS
Prices vary according to the duration and difficulty of the treatment. Generally, the treatment costs as much as a traditional orthodontic treatment, from a minimum of Euro 2,500.00 for simple cases to Euro 5,000.00 for more complex ones.
THE SUCCESS RATE OF INVISALIGN
The technique works very well, provided the aligners are worn all day and night and that they are only removed to eat and brush your teeth.
The great advantage of this method is that the movements made by the teeth can be followed directly on the computer each time the aligner is changed.
